Year 5 visited the University of Sheffield today to work with the university’s Women in Engineering group. First we had a go at a virtual-reality game based on a book by Women in Engineering and the university.
Afterward, we headed over to the university’s Diamond building to learn more about Engineering and explore the labs. Some of us even saw engineers at work!
In the Diamond building, we sat in a lecture hall, which had projectors and whiteboards just like our classrooms!
We also got to use our knowledge of the solar system to try to figure out how big each of the planets is relative to the Sun. Can you tell which fruit represents Jupiter?
When our session overran, there were students waiting outside for their chemistry class. One day, that could be us! Thank you, Women in Engineering and the University of Sheffield!
